African Species primary regions Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameron, and the Congo. The color is a Yellowish-Brown, turning darker upon exposure to a pale brown or medium brown and loosing most of the yellowish cast.The Grain may be straight or slightly interlocked and striped when quarter sawn. The heartwood is very resistant to very resistant to decay and is sometimes used as an alternative to Teak.
The texure is fine to medium and only slightly coarser then that of birch.The wood weighs about 43lbs per cubic foot.
