DESCRIPTION: The sapwood is reddish gray in color & is not always distinct from the heartwood. The heartwood is light reddish-brown or red brown, occasionally with faint streaks. The grain is straight to interlocked. The wood is difficult to nail. Pre-boring is recommended. The wood is reported to have good finishing properties.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Central America, Latin America.
BOTANICAL NAME: Dinizia excelsa
USES: Frames, doors, windows, indoor & outdoor woodwork. Due to the beautiful drawing this wood is also used in the furniture industry. Turned into knobs, handles, walking sticks. Nowadays also as parquet & luxury garden-furniture. Boat building, canoes, domestic flooring, Parquet flooring, stair rails, & stringers.
