DESCRIPTION: Blackwood is a rare african hardwood. The heartwood is deep brown to purple black. The sapwood is yellowish. Texture is moderately coarse and usually straight grained. The wood is very hard and heavy weighting about 70lbs per cubic foot. The wood is usually sold air dried and is considered one of the best turning woods in the world.
