Briar Burls

DESCRIPTION: Small, round burls from the Heath Tree found primarily in the Mediterranean area. Briar burls are mostly sourced in Italy. These burls are great for carving and used alot by the pipe makers. They polish very well and finish to a redish brown. BOTANICAL NAME: Erica Arborea
WORKING PROPERTIES: This is a very hard wood to work with hand or power tools. Can be polished to an excellent finish.
USES: Primarily used in making tobacco pipes. Can be used as decorative inlay or pen making.
