DESCRIPTION: Bubinga is medium red-brown with lighter red to purple veining. Grain is straight to interlocked. It's texture moderately coarse but even. Weight varies from about 50lbs to 60lbs per cu. ft. Bubinga is also known as African Rosewood. COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Africa => Cameroons, Gaboon & the Congo. BOTANICAL NAME: Guibourtia Demeusei
WORKING PROPERTIES: Works easily with hand or power tools. Pre-drilling required for nailing. Gluing can be difficult due to gum pockets. Stains easily and can be brought to an excellent finish. The stock is moderately hard and heavy it saws without difficulty and finishes well.
USES: Bubinga wood is primarily used as a veneer for cabinetwork, furniture, and paneling. Also used for knife handles, and fancy goods.
