DESCRIPTION: Medium red-brown with lighter red to purple veining. Grain is straight to interlocked. Its texture moderately coarse but even. Weight varies from about 50lbs to 60lbs per cu. ft. Also known as African Rosewood.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Africa (Cameroons, Gabon & the Congo)
BOTANICAL NAME: Guibourtia Demeusei
WORKING PROPERTIES: Works easily with hand or power tools. Pre-drilling required for nailing. Gluing can be difficult due to gum pockets. Stains easily & can be brought to an excellent finish. The stock is moderately hard & heavy it saws without difficulty & finishes well.
USES: Primarily used as a veneer for cabinetwork, furniture & paneling. Also used for knife handles & fancy goods.
