DESCRIPTION: Heartwood is fairly uniform red to brown with well demarcated light brown sapwood. Sometimes called Sipo Mahogany, or simply Sipo.
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Africa; mainly West, Central & Ivory Coast
BOTANICAL NAME: Entandrophragma utile
COMMON NAMES: Sipo, Utile, Sipo Mahogany
WORKING PROPERTIES: Machines, glues, nails & finishes well.
USES: Furniture, cabinetry, veneer, boatbuilding, flooring & turned objects. A Genuine (Honduran) Mahogany Substitute due to a very similar look & color. Has a faint Cedar-like scent. Finishes very smoothly, and takes a high polish.
